About Our Founder
Jake Murray is the founder of JEM Legal Search and has nearly a decade of experience in legal recruiting, advising law firms nationwide on strategic lateral hiring.

Jake’s background spans broader legal recruitment, giving him the perspective of a generalist with the execution of a specialist. He works with law firms of all sizes, from boutiques to AmLaw platforms, and supports hiring across a wide range of practice areas, with particular depth in Cybersecurity, Privacy, Intellectual Property, technology-driven litigation, and complex regulatory practices.

His work regularly includes searches involving cyber incident response, privacy advisory and compliance, cybersecurity and privacy litigation, intellectual property litigation, technology transactions, and insurance-panel cyber work. Jake partners closely with firm leadership and practice groups on associate, counsel, partner, and group-level hiring, often in highly competitive or confidential situations.

Jake’s approach is intentionally consultative. He is known for providing clear market perspective, compensation insight, and candid advice, helping firms and attorneys make informed decisions rather than rushed moves. His national network and market knowledge allow him to identify talent that aligns not only with technical requirements, but also with firm culture and long-term practice goals.

He is a graduate of Northwestern University and brings a disciplined, thoughtful approach to every search he undertakes.
